FOUR CORNERS CLASSIC RIDE (Type B-One-Day)

The San Juan Valley Trail Riders invite you to come ride with us in this one day ride in the Four Corners Region of New Mexico. This ride coincides with our San Juan Valley Trail Riders Clinic March 15. Come ride with us through Pinon Mesa and the beauty of Pinons and Cedar trees and mesas and the out standing views of the La Plata Mountains. The trail has varied terrain, mesas and arroyos through the high desert platue, hoof protection is recommended and a blanket for you and your horse.

Directions to Camp: From the north, turn off US Hwy 160 in Hesperus, CO to State Route 140 which changes to Route 170 after you cross the state line into New Mexico. After passing mile marker 4, slow down, look for the NATRC sign on your left (east) side. If you come to the 3 mile marker, you’ve gone too far. From the east or west, on Hwy 64, take State Hwy 170 north, just west of Farmington. Turn right (east) just past the 3 mile marker you’ll see the NATRC sign on your right. Follow ribbons to camp. 

Camp Facilities: Water for horses will be available. Bring your own drinking water. Nights are usually cool so plan to blanket your horse. Two restaurants and a small grocery store are located 8 miles from camp. Emergency phone: Navajo Lake Visitor Center 505-632-2278 (day) or 505-632-2207 (night).

Rules: This ride will be conducted under current NATRC rules. We will be offering the Distance Only class for those of you who wish to complete the ride for mileage only. New Mexico state law requires that out-of-state horses have current Coggins and health papers.

 

Schedule: Pre-ride vet check-in from 2 PM until dark on Friday, March 7. A special First Time Competitor meeting will be held after the briefing Friday night. Saturday lunch will be on the trail.

Meals: Friday night dinner is "junk food and drinks" provided by management and the Open and CP riders. All other meals are on your own.

Awards: There will be 1st through 6th place awards in all divisions, Open and Novice Sweepstakes, CP Highpoint Combined. Send a copy of horse registration papers for breed awards. Awards will be on Sunday afternoon as soon as possible!

Judges: Vet – To Be Announced; Horsemanship – To Be Announced

Entry Fees: $70/Adult, $55/junior and riders over 65 if paid by March 1, 2008. Add $10 if paid after March 1. If you attend the March 15 ride clinic the fees are: $60 Adults and Juniors $45.
