Due to problems getting the right people in the right jobs I am force to cancel the last ride of the season.

I hope to be able to bring this ride idea and location back in the future.

Trail:  The trail footing is very good, but hoof protection is recommended  Trail is mostly sand (not deep), single track or old jeep roads, but there are some rocks, some sandstone.  There will be plenty of water stops on trail (this is dry country) but no natural feed.  Management will supply hay (and water) for the horses at lunch stops when lunch is away from camp.

Directions to Camp:  From I-70 take Highway 191 south toward Moab.  You’ll go approx. 20 miles, then turn right (west) at Hwy 313.  Signs will say “Dead Horse Point” and “Canyonlands National Park.”   Watch your odometer – once on Hwy 313, go 8 miles, then turn right—there are no road signs there, but will be ribboned at turn.  Then, go 1.5 miles, and stay “straight” at Y (do not go right), sign “Spring Canyon Road.”   Go 3.5 miles, you’ll see camp on your right.  Camp is a big open meadow, with plenty of room for all.  Directions traveling from northbound 191 (Moab), go north on 191 from Moab, go 8.5 miles, turn left at Hwy 313, and follow directions as above.  We will have porta potties, and horse water available; please bring your own personal water.  Weed free hay is required.  This ride is held on BLM lands, please respect your public lands so we can continue to use these beautiful trails.

Schedule: Pre-ride vet check starts at 2 PM Friday, October 17 until dark.  Ride briefings will be held Friday evening and Saturday evening, with a special briefing for first time competitors.

Rules: The ride will be conducted under current NATRC rules.  Utah law requires that out-of-state horses have current Coggins and health papers.  Registration papers must be shown or sent with entry to be eligible for breed awards.  Weed free hay is required.

Awards:  There will be 1st through 6th place awards in all divisions, Open and Novice Sweepstakes, CP Highpoint Combined.  Awards will be on Sunday afternoon as soon as possible.

Meals:  We will have a Friday night Potluck, bring something to grill and a dish to share.  Lunch will be provided Saturday and Sunday by ride management.  Saturday night meal to be determined – check with management.

Entry Fees:  Adults $85, Juniors $70.  Refunds at management’s discretion.
