Willow Springs Competitive Trail Ride     (Type A Two Day)

Jefferson, Colorado            June 14-15, 2008                Rider Limit: 60

Come join us for the Willow Springs Competitive Trail Ride to be held in scenic South Park, near Jefferson, Colorado.  Ride with us through mountain meadows rimmed with aspen and spruce groves.  Enjoy the beautiful wildflowers and the 60-mile panoramic views of the Continental Divide, including the Collegiate Peaks across the Park.

 


LOCATION:  The camp is east of the town of Jefferson, Colorado.  From Highway 285 turn on Rock Creek Hill Road and go 5 miles to campsite.  Will be ribboned.  Horse water will be provided in camp, but please bring your own people water.  Certified weed free hay is required.

TRAIL:  Elevations vary from 9,000’ to 9,500’.  The trail traverses meadows and forest, following old road and game trails.  You will be treated to some of the most spectacular scenery Colorado has to offer.  Water is readily available along the trail.  Nights are cool, so blankets for your horse are advised.  Footing is good, but shoes are recommended.

SCHEDULE:  Pre-ride check begins at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 13, and continues until dark.  A special First Time Competitor meeting will be held at 5:00 pm Friday evening.  Briefing for all riders will be held Friday and Saturday evenings.  Riders will time out at 7:00 am Saturday morning.

MEALS:  Friday and Saturday night Potluck, bring meat to grill and a dish to share. Saturday, a truck will take your own lunches to the lunch stop.  Sunday, lunch will be provided by management.

AWARDS:  Ribbons will be awarded through sixth place in each division and class, including sweepstakes for open and novice, and combined horse/rider CP.  Include a copy of your horse’s registration papers with the entry form for breed awards as sponsored.

RULES:  The ride will be conducted under current NATRC rules.  We will be offering the Distance Only (DO) class for those who wish to complete the ride for mileage only.  Colorado law requires that out-of-state horses have current Coggins and health papers.  Certified weed free hay is required.

ENTRY FEES:  Senior entry: $80. Junior entry: $65.  Deposit $35, non-refundable unless due to family emergency.  $10 Discount if entered before May 1, 2008.  Mail entries to Ride Chair, Sherri Halligan.
