Sanctioned Type A Two Day

Come out and enjoy the scenic trails with views of Long Scraggy Peak on the east, the snow-capped Pikes Peak in the south, and Mt. Evans and Mt. Rosalie to the north and west. Terrain is varied with good footing over mild to moderate hills covered in conifers, grasses and aspen groves, speckled with creek crossings and punctuated with wildflowers. Large boulders piled in impossible formations provide unusual characters to ponder as you ride. Portions of the trail are on the historic 488 mile long Colorado Trail that crosses the state from Denver to Durango.                

Directions to Camp: From Denver- Go SW on US Hwy 285 to Pine Junction and turn left at the traffic light onto Hwy 126 (Pine Valley Road). Go 1 1 miles passing thru Pine Grove and Buffalo Creek towns and continue 2 miles farther to the top of the long hill. Camp is on the right and will have ribbons and signage to alert you for the turn. From the South, take Hwy 24 to Woodland Park and turn N on Hwy 67 to Deckers, continue straight across the S. Platte River Bridge where the road rums into Hwy 126 and go 15 miles watching for signage and ribbons on the left for the turn into camp. You will pass FSR 550 which turns to left about a mile before the left turn into the camp site.

Camp: Horse water is provided by North Fork Volunteer Fire Dept. Bring people water. Certified Weed-free hay is required by the USFS. Contact Ride Chair for possible availability of hay. Days can be warm and nights cool so provide blankets for your horses. Shoes are recommended. Greens store (some supplies and gasoline) is located 2 miles north on Hwy 126 in the town of Buffalo Creek. Leash laws are in effect for Jefferson County. All dogs must be secured at trailers when not on leashes. Hay and manure must be scattered and grounds raked before leaving.

Schedule: Pre-ride vet check-in begins at 2PM Friday, June 4, until dark. Ride briefings for all riders will be given each evening.

Meals: Friday-on your own. Saturday-Potluck dinner, management providing iced tea, water, and lemonade, so bring a dish to share. BBQ will be on site for grilling meats. Sunday-Lunch provided by Ride Management in camp after the mornings ride.

Awards:  1st -6th place ribbons in all divisions. Open and Novice Sweepstakes, CP Highpoint Combined. Breed awards as provided.

Rules: Ride will be conducted under current NATRC rules. Distance Only (DO) offered for those who wish to complete mileage only. Health Certificates and Coggins are required for out-of-state horses.

Entry fees: $85-Adult    $80- DO   $65-Juniors or ½ price if a parent is entered in the ride.

Additional fees:  NATRC & Region 3 rider fees and drug fee/member $14.00/non-member $30.00. $10 discount for Early Bird entries received by May 1, 2010.

Deposit: $35 due with entry and balance due at Ride check-in.  Refunds until May 15, 2010, less $15 Administration fee.  No Show No Refund!
